Data Sync Center & Switches

One of the biggest hassles with having lots of Communications Servers (CS) and PBXs is maintaining a clear knowledge of the assets behind each system. Even worse, using your network data to enable other IT applications is rarely achieved, because of the complexity in getting the data into a centralized, easy to access database. Cairs.net helps you overcome both challenges by automatically synchronizing and aggregating your CS/PBX data into its single Microsoft SQL 2008 database. This provides loads of advantages; for starters, it allows you to see what you have and where you have it. It also unlocks the value of your data to empower other IT applications like Share Point 2010. At Unique we recognize: the diversity of people supporting your network, that moves, adds, and changes, will more than likely be made by groups that don’t always work in cairs.net, the value of accurate and accessible enterprise data in enabling other mission critical business objectives. Thus, we bring you the Data Sync Center.

SMA Features

    • Color coded transaction to visually distinguish your commands from the networks.
    • Organize unformatted data into columns and save a history for SMA each session.

Data Sync Center

Chances are configuration administration in your network will happen outside of cairs.net. The Data Sync Center over comes discrepancies and keeps everything synchronized, by regularly comparing the CS/PBX data with the cairs.net database and importing the differences.

The Data Sync Center plays an important role in getting cairs.net installed and up and running in your network with minimal effort. The first sync builds the foundational database while subsequent syncs are used to maintain synchronization between cairs.net database and the network. If you want to view data discrepancies before synchronization, cairs.net provides an ‘out of sync’ report, allowing you to analyze the activities and processes contributing to discrepancies. Often time’s, discrepancies are anticipated because you are planning to have a contractor make changes to the network outside of cairs.net or a technician may not have access to cairs.net. The Data Sync Center removes the burden of trying to play catch up by automatically picking up those changes.

Syncs can run manually or you can schedule them to run on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Additionally, the Data Sync Center gives you the switch sync results by displaying the in-sync and out-of-sync data. You can configure the Data Sync to resolve exceptions (out-of-sync data) automatically or to generate a report (log) of exceptions for manual review.

  • Pre-determine auto sync rules and choose when you need to review updates.
  • Automated recurring syncs scheduled by time, day, month.
  • Sync from a file if a CS/PBX is not on the data network.
  • Create custom data associations to connect CS/PBX data to the cairs.net database dynamically.
  • Create custom scripts to communicate dynamically with the CS/PBX to pull various reports.
  • Change CS/PBX Set names to match inventory names (like 5216 = 1140e, when IP).

Switches

Within Switches, you can manage and monitor switch information and connectivity. Cairs.net switch records allow you to manage connectivity properties, port numbers, and general switch features such as feature key maps, speed dial groups, office hunt groups, etc.

Multiple connections can be established to a Communication Server or PBX through the switch record and Secure Maintenance Access (SMA), an MML interface, is one option for accessing a secure command line interface.

Once your switches and connectivity are established, you can create ports groups, with associated port numbers. Port numbers in cairs.net are the equivalent to EQNs for the EWSD switch, and LENs for the Nortel switch/PBX platform. The status of a port number can be viewed and changed here (ex. Bad, Active, Spare).

Additionally, you can define the Class of Service and Class of Restriction for each switch.

  • Quickly add new Communications Servers and PBXs once a physical connection is established with the ability to set-up global network variables and initial values (like a default set type for a CS/PBX).
  • Monitor live network connections.
  • View communication history between cairs.net Communications Severs and PBXs.
  • See all of the IP, Digital, ISDN, and Analog Set Devices by CS/PBX.
  • Create port usage ports for bad, spare, in-use, and free.
  • Create custom Class of Service & Class of Restriction names for subscribers ordering via the web portal.

UI Features

    • Easy to user Office 2007 style interface.
    • Easily find data through the Instant Search Control by field and query type (contains, equal to, less or equal, etc…).
    • Customize your interfaces by controlling field visibility, field name, field order, and page layout.
    • Create profiles for user groups specific for their needs.
